MaxxECU RACE Standard ECU Package with Flying-Lead Wiring Harness

Part Number: 1817

The MaxxECU RACE Standard package combines the RACE standalone engine-control unit with its primary flying-lead wiring harness and installation accessories. It supports up to eight cylinders with fully sequential fuel injection and ignition, making it well suited to V8 engines and more complex four-, five-, and six-cylinder combinations requiring additional injector, ignition, sensor, auxiliary-control, and transmission functions.

The RACE ECU includes an integrated wideband controller, internal 400 kPa MAP sensor, peak-and-hold injector drivers, CAN communications, internal logging, Bluetooth connectivity, flex-fuel support, variable-cam control, and extensive engine-protection and power-management functions.

This Standard package includes the Connector 1 flying-lead harness. It does not include the Connector 2 harness, Bosch wideband oxygen sensor, or matching wideband connector. The optional Connector 2 harness is required to access the RACE ECU’s electronic-throttle motor outputs, dual knock inputs, eight EGT channels, and several additional inputs and outputs.

Application Notes

• This is a universal flying-lead ECU package, not an application-specific terminated engine harness.
• The included 871 harness connects to the RACE ECU’s primary connector and provides the principal engine-management wiring.
• The 1787 Connector 2 harness is not included.
• Connector 2 is required for electronic throttle, knock sensors, EGT inputs, AIN 5–8, DIN 4–5, high-side outputs, and motor outputs.
• A Bosch LSU wideband oxygen sensor and matching connector are not included.
• The ECU supports Bosch LSU 4.2 and LSU 4.9 sensors; the sensor type, connector, wiring, and MTune configuration must match.
• This package is best suited to cable-throttle installations or applications that do not require the functions assigned to Connector 2.
• For most drive-by-wire installations, add Product ID 1787 or select the RACE Premium package.
• The included RACE ECU uses the standard aluminum enclosure and is not identified as IP67 water-protected.
• The ignition outputs do not directly drive conventional high-current ignition coils.
• Direct transmission control is available for selected GM 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L80E, 4L85E and Toyota A340E, A341E, and A650E applications.
• CAN-controlled transmission support includes selected BMW DCT, VAG DSG, and Gen 1 ZF 8HP applications.
• Gen 1 ZF 8HP control requires the appropriate MaxxECU transmission harness, compatible shifter hardware, transmission configuration, and CAN setup.
• Available inputs and outputs must be allocated around the requirements of the engine, transmission, throttle, variable-cam, boost-control, and auxiliary systems.
