MaxxECU RACE Premium ECU Package with Complete Flying-Lead Wiring Harness and Bosch LSU 4.2 Wideband Sensor

Part Number: 1786

The MaxxECU RACE Premium package is a universal standalone engine-management system for applications requiring up to eight sequential fuel and ignition channels, electronic-throttle control, extensive sensor and auxiliary I/O, integrated wideband lambda, flex-fuel support, variable-cam control, CAN communications, and transmission-control capability.

RACE is well suited to V8 applications and more complex four-, five-, and six-cylinder combinations that require additional inputs, outputs, or control functions beyond the SPORT ECU. The eight injector and ignition channels support fully sequential operation on engines with up to eight cylinders, while the two-harness architecture provides access to electronic throttle, dual knock inputs, eight thermocouple channels, additional analog and digital inputs, high-side outputs, and motor-control outputs.

This Premium package includes both MaxxECU RACE flying-lead harnesses, a genuine Bosch LSU 4.2 wideband oxygen sensor, the matching sensor connector, communication hardware, and the principal accessories required to begin a custom installation. Unlike the RACE Standard package, the Premium package provides access to the ECU’s complete connector allocation without requiring Harness 2 to be purchased separately.

Application Notes

  • This is a universal flying-lead ECU package. It is not supplied with an application-specific terminated engine harness.

  • Product ID 1786 includes a Bosch LSU 4.2 sensor. Product ID 2251 is the corresponding RACE Premium package supplied with a Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor.

  • The sensor type, connector, wiring, and MTune configuration must match. LSU 4.2 and LSU 4.9 sensors are not interchangeable without the correct connector and configuration.

  • Both RACE harnesses are included. Harness 2 provides the wiring required for electronic throttle, knock inputs, EGT inputs, additional analog and digital inputs, high-side outputs, and motor outputs.

  • The included Harness 2 provides eight miniature thermocouple connectors for custom EGT-probe termination. The actual Type-K or Type-N EGT probes are sold separately.

  • Knock sensors are not included.

  • This is the standard aluminum-enclosure RACE ECU and is not identified as IP67 water-protected. Use a RACE H2O package where the ECU will be exposed to water, heavy moisture, or harsh environmental conditions.

  • Full sequential operation is limited to engines with eight cylinders or fewer. Engines with more than eight cylinders require a different fuel and ignition strategy or a higher-channel ECU.

  • Electronic-throttle operation requires a compatible throttle body, accelerator-pedal assembly, correct wiring, appropriate channel allocation, and application-specific setup in MTune.

  • The ignition outputs do not directly drive conventional high-current ignition coils. Use coils with built-in igniters, a compatible external ignition module, or a CDI system.

  • Supported direct-control automatic transmissions include selected:

    • GM 4L60E and 4L65E

    • GM 4L80E and 4L85E

    • Toyota A340E, A341E, and A650E

  • Supported CAN-controlled transmission applications include selected:

    • BMW DCT

    • VAG DSG

    • Gen 1 ZF 8HP

  • Gen 1 ZF 8HP control requires the appropriate MaxxECU transmission harness, compatible shifter hardware, transmission configuration, and CAN setup. These components are sold separately.

  • Available inputs and outputs must be allocated around the requirements of the specific engine, transmission, throttle, variable-cam, boost-control, and auxiliary systems.
