The Haltech iC-7 is a 7-inch full-color digital dash designed to display, organize, and log engine and vehicle data from a Haltech ECU or supported third-party engine-management system.

Connected to a NEXUS Rebel LS or another current Haltech ECU through the Haltech CAN network, the iC-7 replaces a conventional gauge cluster with configurable screen layouts, programmable warnings, shift lights, onboard data logging, and additional user-definable inputs and outputs. The included 3 m CAN cable provides a direct connection to the ECU or an available port on a Haltech CAN hub or compatible CAN device.

The iC-7 can operate primarily as a CAN display or use its own direct inputs for additional sensors, vehicle-speed signals, switches, warning indicators, fuel level, and other chassis functions.

Application Notes

• This HT-067010 kit is the standard CAN-connected iC-7 package.
• It is intended primarily for use with a Haltech ECU or a supported third-party ECU that supplies engine and vehicle data over CAN.
• When connected to a Haltech ECU through the supplied DTM-4 cable, the CAN connection supplies the dash with communications, switched power, and ground.
• When several Haltech CAN devices are installed, the iC-7 can connect through:
  • An available port on a Haltech CAN hub
  • The second CAN port on a compatible WB1 or WB2 controller
  • Another properly configured connection on the Haltech CAN network
• The iC-7 can display ECU data without duplicating sensors at the dash.
• Direct dash inputs can be used when a required signal is not available from the ECU or when the iC-7 replaces the original instrument cluster.
• Typical directly wired vehicle functions can include:
  • Fuel level
  • Turn-signal indicators
  • High-beam indicator
  • Parking-brake warning
  • Vehicle speed
  • Engine speed
  • Additional pressure or temperature sensors
• Sensor calibration must match the exact sensor or sender connected to the dash. Generic 0–5 V or resistance-based senders require the correct calibration data.
• I/O sharing allows compatible dash inputs and outputs to be used by a connected Haltech ECU, reducing the need to route every chassis signal directly to the ECU.
• I/O sharing is supported with compatible NEXUS and Elite ECUs using current firmware.
• I/O sharing is not supported with Haltech Platinum-series ECUs, although the iC-7 can still display supported Platinum ECU data over CAN.
• Haltech currently specifies the following minimum firmware versions for I/O sharing:
  • NEXUS ECU or VCU firmware 1.26.4 or later
  • Elite ECU firmware 3.11.0 or later
  • iC-7 firmware 2.26.3 or later
• Third-party ECU protocol support does not necessarily include the required physical adapter cable. The appropriate CAN adapter must be selected for the ECU being used.
• The standard HT-067010 kit does not include an OBD-II adapter.
• Connection directly to a compatible vehicle OBD-II network requires the optional HT-135003 iC-7/uC-10 OBD-II-to-CAN cable.
• This kit is not the HT-067014 Stand-Alone “Classic” package.
• The semi-terminated standalone harness and standalone sensor pack are not included.
• The supplied 34-pin harness includes spare pins for custom input and output wiring, but custom sensor and vehicle wiring remains the installer’s responsibility.
• The iC-7 can be operated without a Haltech ECU when correctly wired and configured with direct sensors, but customers wanting the complete standalone harness and sensor package should select the Stand-Alone “Classic” kit.
• The iC-7 does not include a dash bezel, panel, pedestal, or steering-column mount.

• Earlier iC-7 units configured through Haltech ICC can be updated for configuration through NSP.
• Updating an existing ICC-configured iC-7 to NSP erases the existing dash configuration. ICC configuration files cannot be imported into the NSP-based firmware, so the dash must be reconfigured after the update.
• The 512 MB logging memory operates as looped storage. When the memory is full, older logs are removed as new logging data is recorded.
• Logging channels can be divided into groups with different sample rates, allowing high-speed channels such as RPM to be recorded more frequently than slower channels such as coolant temperature or fuel level.
• The IP64 rating does not make the dash submersible. Mounting should protect the rear connector and wiring from direct water accumulation and concentrated heat.
