The BorgWarner EFR 8374 is a premium dual-ball-bearing turbocharger rated by BorgWarner for 475–750 horsepower. Part number 179357 is a fixed complete assembly combining the 8374 compressor and 74 mm Gamma-Ti turbine with a 0.92 A/R divided T4 turbine housing and an integrated internal wastegate.

The 62 mm nominal inducer and 84 mm nominal outside-diameter forged-milled compressor wheel provide substantial airflow in a compact B2-frame package. BorgWarner pairs it with a low-inertia 74/65 mm Gamma-Ti turbine wheel and a dual-row ceramic ball-bearing cartridge to improve transient response and reduce rotating inertia relative to a conventional nickel-alloy turbine and journal-bearing arrangement.

EFR integration reduces the number of separate components required around the turbocharger. The compressor cover incorporates a compressor recirculation valve and boost-control solenoid valve, while the stainless-steel turbine housing includes a large internal wastegate. The compressor cover is also machined with a turbo-speed-sensor provision for customers who add the optional sensor.

  • The divided T4 turbine housing is intended for a properly divided exhaust manifold that preserves exhaust-pulse separation to the turbine inlet.
  • Using the housing with an undivided manifold removes most of the pulse-separation benefit associated with the twin-scroll configuration.
  • The integrated compressor recirculation valve may be retained, blocked off with the appropriate BorgWarner service components, or supplemented by an external valve where the system design requires it.
